The design meticulously replicates the distinctive shoulder board insignia worn by these junior officers.

Visual Elements

The centerpiece of the design is a single, prominent star. This star, rendered in a crisp, gold color, symbolizes the rank of First Lieutenant. The star is set against a field of color, which would have represented the specific branch of service within the IJA. The chosen background color on the glass provides the backdrop to complement the bright gold star, ensuring its prominence.

The design faithfully recreates the shape of the shoulder board (kenshō), which would have been worn on the tunic of the uniform. The artwork mimics the precise placement of the star on the board. The careful attention to detail ensures historical accuracy and authenticity.

Meaning and Symbolism

The representation of the star is not simply decorative. It immediately identifies the rank of the officer. The use of a single star signifies a level of leadership and responsibility within the IJA. By adopting the insignia of the Chūi rank, the glass becomes a commemorative piece, honoring the service and dedication of these junior officers.

The overall design pays homage to a significant period in Japanese military history. The imagery invites reflection on the history, traditions, and the sacrifices made by the Imperial Japanese Army.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/japan-military-rank-pint-glass-16oz-16oz-position1_e3f29d99-af94-4365-b97b-38260d05a560.webp?v=1765847391
https://gomugyourself.com/products/%e5%b8%9d%e5%9c%8b%e9%99%b8%e8%bb%8d%e3%81%ae%e9%9a%8e%e7%b4%9a%e8%82%a9%e7%ab%a0%e4%b8%ad%e5%b0%89-japan-military-rank-pint-glass-16oz
