The design focuses on the simplicity and historical accuracy of the rank's insignia.

Visual Representation

The core design element is the visual interpretation of the collar patch (襟章 - erishō) worn by Nitōhei. This historically meant a plain, unadorned patch, typically colored to represent the soldier's branch of service. The glass design captures this directly, often with a solid-colored circular design, representing the collar patch.

The absence of embellishment is significant. It visually signifies the lowest rank in the enlisted ranks, embodying the foundational status of the soldier.

Meaning and Symbolism

The design serves as a direct visual reminder of the rank of 二等兵. The simplistic nature highlights the discipline and standardization of the IJA. It embodies the essence of the soldier: ready to serve, without personal distinguishing marks, ready to blend in and obey.

The design acts as a tribute to the soldiers who served at the bottom of the military hierarchy, acknowledging their important contributions and sacrifice, while celebrating the historical accuracy and uniqueness of the IJA's ranks.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/japan-military-rank-pint-glass-16oz-16oz-position1_23f86f24-d597-490e-b047-484011a9a24d.webp?v=1765847619
https://gomugyourself.com/products/%e5%b8%9d%e5%9c%8b%e9%99%b8%e8%bb%8d%e3%81%ae%e9%9a%8e%e7%b4%9a%e8%a5%9f%e7%ab%a0%e4%ba%8c%e7%ad%89%e5%85%b5-japan-military-rank-pint-glass-16oz
