The street is the subject, with no decorative borders or added flourishes competing for attention. The result reads as a clean, honest piece of graphic work, so the eye goes straight to the historic streetscape and the sense of a real route through the city. The mood is observational, the way a local would notice a familiar corner they have passed many times.

Meaning & Symbolism

The Alte Poststrasse, or Old Post Road, takes its name from the postal route that once carried letters and travellers through the region, so the street stands for movement, communication and the passing of time. In Graz, it sits within a city that has grown around its historic core, and the design holds that layering of past and present within one frame. Its themes of geography, heritage and travel all come from this single road and its place in the city's story.

Made for the Shot Glass in Hand

A shot glass is small, held close and lifted at the end of a table, so the design is seen at very short range, much as a map is read up close. Every detail of the street stays within a few inches of the eye, which suits a piece of Graz history meant to be picked up and looked at properly. Give it to someone who has walked that road, or who has a fondness for Austrian streets, and the toast becomes a small conversation about place.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/alte-poststrasse-graz-austria-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-LTPST-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793652952
