The design is a direct representation of the official arms granted in 1817, and echoes a similar design found on a seal dating back to 1409.

The Shield: A Divided Heritage

The central element of the design is the shield, which is divided vertically, a technique known as "party per pale." This creates two distinct fields, each bearing a significant symbol of the area's history.

Left Panel: The Silver Lion

The left side of the shield, known as the heraldic dexter, features a lion rampant, rendered in silver or white ("argent"). The salmon is believed to be a reference to the historic salmon-fishing that took place in the Ammerstol area, connecting the design to the local economy and history.

Color Palette and Symbolism

The color palette consists of blue ("azure") as the background for both halves, along with the silver/white of the lion and the gold of the salmon.
