The route code sits at the centre of the composition and takes up nearly all of the space, with nothing competing for attention. The letter and numerals are set in a clean, typographic style that reads quickly, the way a road sign has to when a driver passes it at speed. Because the artwork carries no ornament, the shape of the characters does all the work, and the eye lands on A25 before anything else.

Meaning & Symbolism

In Australia, a letter followed by a number identifies each road within the national network. The letter signals the category of road and the number places it within that system, so a single code tells a navigator which route they are on and where it leads. The design takes that working information and presents it on its own, celebrating the logic behind Australian route numbering. It belongs to a long tradition of transport graphics, where a few characters on a sign carry an entire road network.

Designed for a Close Look

A shot glass is small and held close, so the route code sits right in front of you at eye level as you raise it. That intimate viewing distance suits a typographic piece, where every character is legible without effort. It is a fitting pick for anyone who has spent hours tracing a route across a map, or who has been the one reading the signs from the passenger seat and calling out the next turn.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-a25-australia-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-SLPH-1P5OZ-1FV4K-front.webp?v=1793636842
