The letter and numerals of B668 sit at the centre of the design and carry all of its visual weight, with no decoration competing for attention. The layout is clean and literal, the way route signage is meant to be read at a glance from a moving vehicle. Nothing is added beyond what the marker needs to say.

Meaning & Symbolism

Alphanumeric routes are the grid that lets drivers, planners and mapmakers refer to a road without ambiguity. A code like B668 stands for a specific corridor through the Australian landscape, one that connects towns, regions and transport networks. The design honours that system of wayfinding, turning a piece of civic navigation into an object worth keeping. It speaks to travel, geography and the quiet infrastructure that moves people from one place to the next.

Reading the Route on the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall, narrow vessel, and the design runs along that vertical line. The marker reads top to bottom as the glass is turned in the hand, so the designation stays legible as you lift and pour. Its plain, sign-like character suits a surface that is viewed up close and at an angle, the way a road marker is seen from the driver's seat. For anyone who has followed B668 on a map or from the road, the glass turns that navigation into something to hold.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-b668-australia-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SLPH-16OZ-1FV84-front.webp?v=1793625309
