A letter and numerals sit centred within the route marker, with clean typography and standard designation formatting carrying the whole image. Nothing competes with the designation. The layout is a single, legible emblem, so the eye lands on the code first and the rest of the sign second.

Meaning & Symbolism

Alphanumeric route markers are the grammar of Australian roadways. Each code tells a driver which path they are on within the national transit network, and the B-series designation marks a route of its own within that system. The B70 is a small piece of wayfinding, and the design honours the quiet infrastructure that connects one region to another. It stands for navigation itself, the way a sequence of signs turns a long distance into a route someone can follow.

Designed for the Pint Glass

A pint glass is a tall, curved surface that wraps around the hand, so the marker is seen in a single continuous band as the glass is lifted and turned. Each sip brings the designation back into view, and the sign reads as a route that keeps unfolding around the glass. It makes a sensible companion for anyone who has spent time on Australian roads, or who simply likes a good piece of signage with a story behind it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-b70-australia-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SLPH-16OZ-1FV89-front.webp?v=1793625004
