The B77 designation sits at the centre of the artwork, its letter and numerals set in a bold, legible form that reads at a glance, the way signage is meant to be read from a moving vehicle. Nothing competes with it. There is no decorative border, no scenery and no extra lettering, just the route code and a plain field around it, giving the piece the crisp, functional look of the road furniture it references.

Meaning & Symbolism

An alphanumeric code like B77 is a small act of order. The letter identifies the class of road and the numerals place it within a national system, so a driver anywhere in Australia can match a sign to a route and know where they are headed. The design honours that quiet logic of wayfinding and the civil engineering behind it, celebrating the everyday signage that ties a vast landscape together. For anyone who has followed a route number across a long stretch of country, it is a recognisable badge of the journey.

Shaping the Pint Glass Around the Sign

A pint glass is a tall, curved surface that you hold for the length of a conversation, so the route marker is seen in pieces as the glass turns in the hand and wraps around the wall. The B77 code reads most clearly when the glass is set down in front of you, and the simple layout keeps the sign legible from any angle. It is a fitting pairing: a piece of road signage that is meant to be glanced at and understood, on a glass made to be picked up and enjoyed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-b77-australia-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SLPH-16OZ-1FV8H-front.webp?v=1793624223
