A letter and a three-digit number sit at the centre of the design, and the numerals do the work of the image. Nothing competes with them. The layout is plain and direct, the way a navigation sign is meant to be read at a glance, so the eye goes straight to the code and stays there.

Meaning & Symbolism

Alphanumeric route codes are how a road network names itself. A letter and digits give each route a unique identity that drivers, planners and map-makers can all refer to without confusion. Route C703 belongs to Australia's road system, and the design honours that system's logic of labelling roads so that a journey can be followed from one sign to the next. It speaks to geography, to travel, and to the quiet infrastructure that carries people across long distances.

Made for Close Reading

A shot glass is small and held close, so the design is seen at a few centimetres rather than across a room. The route code sits right where the eye falls as the glass is lifted, turning an everyday road marker into something you read up close. It is a good match for anyone who notices signage on a drive, and a fitting nod for the next road trip or the friend who always has a map in the glovebox.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-c703-australia-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-SLPH-1P5OZ-1FUOW-front.webp?v=1793632032
