The alphanumeric code C731 runs across the design as the dominant element, with its letter and numerals spaced for quick reading, the way a driver would take them in from a passing lane. Nothing decorative competes with the text. The layout follows the logic of a road sign: a clear label, a clear hierarchy, and no ornament.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route numbering is how a country tells travellers where they are and where they are going. The C-prefixed designation belongs to Australia's alphanumeric system, which gives each road a code that maps onto a network of highways, cities and regional links. Read as a symbol, C731 stands for the quiet infrastructure behind every long drive: the markers that keep people on course across vast distances.

Wayfinding, Held in the Hand

A pint glass is a vessel you pick up and turn, so the design travels with the drink as it moves. Each time the glass is lifted, a different stretch of the route label comes into view, much like a sign glimpsed from a moving car. For anyone who has ever followed a route number across a map, it is a small, fitting reminder of the journey behind the label.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/aus-alphanumeric-route-c731-australia-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-SLPH-16OZ-1FUPM-front.webp?v=1793618651
