Austin, known as the "Father of Texas." The artwork focuses on visual elements derived from heraldic traditions.

Shield (Arms)

The central design element is a shield with a silver/white (Argent) background. A black (Sable) horizontal band (fesse) is placed between two black chevrons. Within the fesse, three small silver/white crosses (cross-crosslets) are featured. The shield is enclosed by a black border (bordure) decorated with a wreath of laurel and roses in their natural colors.

Crest

Above the shield, the design incorporates the crest, which is a silver/white cross positioned between two silver/white wings. The cross element underwent modifications by Stephen F. Austin, who, in later life, sometimes replaced the traditional Latin cross with a cross-crosslet.

Stephen F. Austin's Modifications

The design acknowledges the modifications made by Stephen F. Austin. He replaced the three cross-crosslets on the fesse with a deer's (stag) head to represent his pioneer life in America. The exact color and orientation of the stag’s head is unknown, but the inclusion reflects this historical adaptation.

Symbolic Representation

The design encapsulates the heritage of the Austin family. The elements symbolize connection to historical heraldry. The addition of the stag’s head (if included) would further denote the family's American pioneer legacy. The wings and cross are also symbolically incorporated into the City of Austin's official design.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/austin-family-arms-united-states-coat-of-arms-pint-glass-16oz-16oz-position1.webp?v=1764548197
