The design centers around a circular badge, immediately recognizable by its unique arrangement of elements.

The Central Shield

At the heart of the design is a shield, featuring a captivating image: a mermaid gazing at her reflection in a hand mirror. This image, a departure from traditional heraldic conventions, symbolizes themes such as reflection, self-awareness, or even beauty. Its unusual nature highlights the badge's origins in a court seal, rather than a formally granted coat of arms.

Surrounding Elements

Behind the shield, two crossed war-clubs provide a strong visual reference to Fijian indigenous culture and the nation's martial traditions. The inclusion of these weapons is a clear acknowledgment of the heritage and history of Fiji. The entire composition is framed by a wreath of foliage and leaf motifs. These elements evoke the lush, tropical environment of Fiji.

A Symbol of Transition

Overall, the design represents a transitional period in Fijian history, blending local motifs with adapted designs. The resulting emblem is a testament to the nation's colonial past and the evolution of its heraldry. This shot glass design is a small, but striking, reminder of this unique moment in time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/badge-of-fiji-1875-1883-fiji-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1768353017
