The artwork is a quartered shield, offering a visually balanced and intriguing composition.

Quarter 1 & 4: The Black Lion and Imperial Eagle

The first and fourth quarters of the shield feature a gold (Or) background, emblazoned with a bold black lion (sable). This lion, a symbol of strength and pride, holds a captivating detail: a double-headed eagle, also in black. This represents the historical "Ambacht Assenede" and its connections to the Empire, specifically referencing the Diocese of Utrecht and its ties to the Holy Roman Empire.

Quarter 2 & 3: The Red Cross of Boekhoute

The second and third quarters present a silver (Argent) field, intersected by a prominent red cross (Gules). This cross originates from Boekhoute, a town now part of the Assenede municipality. At the heart of this cross, a small golden in-escutcheon is placed. This detail likely reflects an older, local heraldic symbol, adding an additional layer of historical significance to the overall design.

A Visual Tapestry of Heritage

The design tells a story. From the bold lion's imperial connection to the cross of Boekhoute and the mysterious in-escutcheon, the coat of arms offers a rich visual tapestry. The arrangement and the contrast between the colors and elements create a strong, memorable, and meaningful design.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/blason-assenede-belgium-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1768360535
