The design is a direct representation of the heraldic achievement granted to the village in 1845.

Visual Elements

The central design element is a shield, rendered in the color red (gules). Dominating the shield are two crossed swords, forming an 'X' shape known as a saltire. The swords are depicted in silver (argent), with their hilts and the small crosses atop them rendered in gold (or).

Symbolism and Meaning

The crossed swords are the primary heraldic symbols of the design. They likely represent a historical association, perhaps related to the village's history, local patrons, or significant events. The orientation of the swords, with their points directed downwards, is a consistent element of the original blazon, signifying a particular heraldic intention.

The use of red, silver, and gold creates a striking contrast. Each color, according to heraldic tradition, adds symbolic weight to the design. This design pays homage to the village's past and its identity as a former independent municipality.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/blason-ville-be-meetkerke-belgium-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1768382305
