The shield's rounded base comes to a central point at the bottom, a silhouette that signals road signage before the numbers are even read. The characters BR and 016 are set centrally, sized to fill the shield and leave the surrounding white open. There are no ornaments or secondary graphics, so the design is pure information, arranged with the discipline of a traffic sign.

Meaning & Symbolism

BR-016 is one of the numbered federal routes that knit Brazil's highway network together. The BR prefix marks it as a national road, and the three-digit designation is the system by which drivers, engineers and map-makers refer to it. The junction in the name points to a meeting of routes. The sign therefore stands for connection and movement across a large country, and for the plain, practical language that makes that movement possible.

A Sign for the Hand

Printed on a mug, the shield curves around the cup, so its pointed base and outer border turn into view as the mug is lifted. The white ground lets the black outline stand out clearly against the ceramic, and the route number stays readable whichever side faces the drinker. It fits naturally beside a laptop or on a kitchen shelf, where a route marker quietly rewards anyone who stops to read it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-016-jct-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-BR016-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793836659
