br-189-jct-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
BR-189 jct (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

BR-189 jct (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

A stark white field carries a single black highway shield bearing the route designation BR-189, a clean piece of road signage pulled straight from Brazil's federal highway network.

Visual Elements & Composition

White dominates the composition, taking up most of the frame, with black reserved for the shield and its lettering. The shield is drawn in flat vector style with a double outline and a rounded top that tapers to a downward pointed notch at the base, the form Brazilian federal routes have long used. Inside it, the letters BR sit above the numerals 189, and the junction note stands apart in the design as a plain, legible label. Nothing competes with the marker, so the eye moves from shape to letter to number in one pass.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shield, or escudo, is the emblem of a Brazilian federal highway, and the BR prefix marks the route as part of that national system. BR-189 is a route number, and the "jct" tag points to a junction, the place where roads meet and drivers choose a direction. The design reads as navigation: a sign that tells you where you are on a map and which way the road runs. It is a modern sign style, graphic and reduced, built to be read at a glance from a moving vehicle.

Designed for the Hand

A mug is turned in the hand and read from the side, so the shield wraps as you rotate it, and the BR-189 designation comes round to face you each time you lift it. Each sip brings the sign back into view, like a roadside marker passing at speed. It suits a coffee break on a long drive, or a reminder of a route someone knows well.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-189-jct-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-BR189-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793837071
