Black covers about an eighth of the artwork and white fills the rest. The letters BR sit over the numerals 299, both centred and of equal weight. With no background, border ornament or secondary colour, the composition is entirely the shield and its designation.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazil's federal highways are designated with BR and a three-digit number, and the shield is the sign that marks a route for drivers. The jct in the title places the marker at a junction, where BR-299 meets another road. The shield is a functional, modern form, drawn from the everyday vocabulary of road signage rather than from any ceremonial emblem.

On the Shot Glass

A 1.5oz shot glass is handled and viewed up close, so the double outline and the central point of the shield are seen at close range rather than across a room. The compact size suits a single shield, and the stark black on white keeps the route number legible at arm's length. It works well among a collection of road-trip keepsakes.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-299-jct-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-BR299-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793824035
