A double line traces its outline, giving the shape a crisp, engraved quality. Black covers about one seventh of the artwork against a white ground. The letters BR stand above the numerals 317, centred within the shield. The flat vector style leaves no decoration to compete with the route designation.

Meaning & Symbolism

Brazil's federal highways are named with the prefix BR and a three-digit number, and this shield is the marker that identifies the route to drivers. The jct in the title denotes a junction, the point where BR-317 meets another road or route. The shield is a modern, utilitarian form, drawn from the everyday language of road signage rather than from any ceremonial emblem.

On the Shot Glass

A 1.5oz shot glass is picked up and examined at close range, so the double outline and the notch are read up close rather than from a distance. The compact vessel suits a shield this size, and the high contrast of black and white keeps the route number easy to read at arm's length. It makes a sharp addition to any shelf of road-trip keepsakes.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-317-jct-brazil-road-sign-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-BR317-1P5OZ-front.webp?v=1793824087
