The letters and numerals of BR-551 sit at the centre of the design and carry the full visual weight, set out with the clarity a driver needs to read a sign at a glance. The arrangement is plain and orderly, with no ornament competing for attention. Beside the route name, the "jct" marker identifies the point as a junction, so the eye reads both the road and the place where it meets another.

Meaning & Symbolism

The "BR" prefix identifies a route within Brazil's federal highway network, the system of major national roads that connects the country's regions. A numbered route such as BR-551 functions as an administrative address, letting travellers, drivers and planners refer to one exact road among many. The design honours that wayfinding logic, treating a highway designation as a legible mark of national infrastructure and of how Brazil's roads are organised and named.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is read in passing, and this artwork is built for that kind of reading. Its single line of identifying text wraps naturally around the curve of a tall glass, so the route name stays whole and readable as the glass is turned in the hand. It makes a fitting gift for anyone who follows Brazilian highways, plans long drives across the country, or simply enjoys the design of functional signage.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-551-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BR551-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793788387
