br-681-jct-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
BR-681 jct (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

BR-681 jct (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

This design is a Brazilian federal route marker, a shield reading BR-681 with the abbreviation jct for junction printed beneath it.

Visual Elements & Composition

The artwork is almost entirely white, with black taking up about a fifth of the surface as outlines and lettering. A flat vector shield with a rounded base and a notch at its centre sits in the middle of the field, framed by a double-line border. The characters BR and the numerals 681 fill the upper part of the shield, and the junction label is set plainly below. There is no ornament, so the sign is read directly.

Meaning & Symbolism

The BR prefix marks a federal highway in Brazil, and the three-digit number locates that route within the national system. A jct label indicates a point where roads meet or divide, which makes the marker a tool for navigation rather than a picture of a place. The shield form has been used on Brazilian roads for decades, so the design carries the plain, practical language of the country's transport signage.

On a Mug You Turn in Your Hand

A mug is rotated as it is lifted and set down, so the shield travels around the curve of the cup and is taken in as a sequence of views. The double border follows the wall of the mug, and the BR 681 lettering stays upright from the handle side. The clean white ground suits a sign that was made to be read quickly, one glance at a time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/br-681-jct-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-BR681-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793835327
