Nothing else competes with them. The arrangement is centred, so the eye settles on the middle of the text and reads across it in one pass. Spacing is even and the layout is rigid, which gives the piece a plain, systematic look closer to a signage plate than a poster.

Meaning & Symbolism

Each element does a practical job. "Estado" marks a state-level route, "086" is the route number, and "jct" signals a junction, the point where one road meets another and a driver must choose. Together they form the kind of directional label used on Brazilian roads to guide travellers between regions. The design takes that functional language and presents it without decoration, so the information itself becomes the artwork.

On the Mixing Glass

This is a glass made for reading at a glance, and the sign is too. The tall, tapered body carries the lettering around a curved surface, and the text stays legible as you lift the glass to pour or shake. Because the design is a single centred line, it sits square on the front and keeps its balance whichever way the glass is turned. It makes a good nudge for someone who spends more time planning routes than driving them, or a fitting toast for your own next road trip.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-086-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQGL-front.webp?v=1793681993
