The name of the junction and its route number sit at the centre of the composition, read as a directional marker would be read at speed: clear, direct and unfussy. Nothing competes with the lettering, so the eye lands on the place name first and the route number second. The mood is neutral and matter-of-fact, which suits a design that is really about where a road meets another road.

Meaning & Symbolism

A junction is a point of choice. Every route that passes through it connects one town to another, and the number on the sign tells you which road you are on and where it leads. Here that idea is tied to Brazil itself, a vast country whose regional networks are stitched together by roads like the 163. The design celebrates that infrastructure as a kind of quiet geography: the places people pass through on the way to somewhere else, and the state that depends on them.

Made for the Mixing Glass in Hand

A tall glass offers a continuous curved surface, so the sign reads as one unbroken line rather than a flat panel. Lift it and the lettering turns with your grip, the route number passing across the front as the glass moves. It is a design that rewards a second look, much like a road you have driven before and noticed differently the next time. Pour a drink into it, and the junction sits quietly beside whatever you are toasting.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-163-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQIQ-front.webp?v=1793686121
