The string sits in the centre of the field with generous space around it, and the layout is ordered so each element can be read in sequence. The numeral 242 holds the eye at the middle of the line, between the place name and the abbreviation at the end. The result is a clean, functional image that depends entirely on clarity and spacing, the way a direction board does when it has to be read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

Each word carries a specific instruction. Brasil names the country, estado points to a state-level road, 242 is the route number, and jct is the familiar shorthand for junction. Together they read as a Brazilian road sign marking a point where routes meet. The design takes the language of wayfinding and presents it as an object to look at, so a sign built to be passed at speed becomes something you can study up close.

Why It Suits This Glass

A tall mixing glass is held in the hand and turned while it is stirred, so the lettering moves with the drinker's grip rather than sitting still on a flat wall. The tapered base puts the route number in the hand's natural reach, and the text wraps the curve of the glass as it turns. For anyone who has ever followed a road sign to the right exit, the connection is immediate: a junction you can hold, read and carry with you.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-242-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQ9T-front.webp?v=1793676116
