The characters of the identifier sit centred in a clean, structured layout, with the country name and the state-based designation placed in direct relation to each other. Nothing decorative competes with the text. The mood is neutral and direct, and legibility comes first, which gives the arrangement its minimal, organised character.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design explores regional identification and alphanumeric categorisation. Road signage works on the same principle: a short code tells you where you are and which route you are on. Here the Brazilian state name and its numbered designation play that role, pairing a place with a reference number so the identifier stands for one specific point on the map. Brazil, state identification and typography are the themes running through it.

On This Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a tall, narrowing vessel that stays in the hand while it is being used, so the sign is read as the glass is turned and lifted. Its clear sides let the lettering show through to whatever is inside, and the narrower lower section gives the identifier a steady place to sit under the palm. A road marker on a glass suits anyone who has driven that route, or who simply likes a map with its details intact.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-274-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQAP-front.webp?v=1793672557
