The designation dominates the field, and the text is given room to stay legible at a glance. There is no illustration to compete with it, only the name of the place and the bare structure of a directional marker. The palette is neutral, so the lettering carries all of the visual weight.

Meaning & Symbolism

A junction sign exists to tell a traveller where they are and where they can turn. Here the designation Estado 297 names a specific point within Brazil's network of state roads, and the artwork treats that point as a fact to be read. The imagery speaks to geography, navigation and cartography, the everyday language of maps and signposts reduced to one identifier.

Reading the Sign on a Pint Glass

A pint glass is a tall, curved surface that is turned in the hand, so the sign's text wraps around the vessel and reveals itself one line at a time as the glass moves. The centred composition suits that rotation, keeping the designation in view from whichever side is facing the drinker. It is a fitting pairing: a traveller's marker on a glass built for the road-trip toast, a quiet bit of geography for anyone who has ever navigated by a junction number.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-297-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQBC-front.webp?v=1793669590
