The words sit in the middle of the composition with even space around them, so the eye settles on the numerals first, where "574" breaks up the place name. The layout is balanced rather than decorative, and the characters do all the work.

Meaning & Symbolism

Read in English, "estado" means state and "jct" is the familiar abbreviation for junction. The sequence therefore reads as a regional marker: a Brazilian state, a numbered route, a point where roads meet. The design takes that wayfinding language and strips it to its core, with regional identification and alphanumeric coding as its themes. It is the same logic that lets a traveller find a place from a sign alone.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is lifted, tipped and turned in the hand, so this design is seen in motion as the glass moves. The lettering wraps a tall curved surface, which means the numerals are read in pieces and reassembled as you hold it. It suits someone whose favourite part of a road trip was the turn-off nobody planned, and who will recognise that sign the moment they see it on the bar.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/brasil-estado-574-jct-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-BRSSTD-16OZ-1FQ7W-front.webp?v=1793681810
