The design is a striking example of heraldry, offering a visually engaging and symbolic representation of Ohmstal's history.

Shield and Color Scheme

The design is dominated by a shield divided horizontally, presenting a clean and balanced composition. The upper half is rendered in a vibrant gold or yellow (Or), while the lower half displays a rich red (Gules). This contrasting color scheme immediately captures the eye and provides a solid foundation for the central elements.

Central Symbolism: The Mullets

The focal point of the design is the pair of six-pointed stars (mullets) positioned in a vertical alignment. These stars are "counterchanged," meaning they reverse the background colors. One star is gold, placed against the red background, and the other is red, set against the gold. This arrangement symbolizes the historical merger of Ohmstal and Niederwil in 1819, representing unity and shared heritage.

Historical Significance

The coat of arms is a modern creation that reflects the unique character and origins of Ohmstal. Although the municipality has since merged, the coat of arms remains a potent visual reminder of its past identity and distinctive historical journey.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/che-ohmstal-coa-switzerland-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1768418589
