The artwork centers around a classic heraldic shield (escutcheon), providing a visually striking and meaningful design.

The Shield: A Landscape in Miniature

The shield's background is a vibrant blue (azur), representing the sky and the overall visual identity of the region. A prominent wavy horizontal bar of silver/white (argent) bisects the blue, symbolizing the vital waterways, especially the Kromme Strijne River, which shaped the area's geography and history. The wave motif immediately evokes the water-rich landscape of the Hoeksche Waard island.

Diagonal Crosses: Echoes of the Past

Above and below the wavy bar, three silver diagonal crosses (schuinkruisjes) are strategically positioned. Two crosses appear above the watery bar, while a single one resides below. These crosses are a direct link to older heraldic traditions associated with the historic Ambachtsheerlijkheid Cromstrijen and serve to connect the identity of the municipality with its constituent towns of Klaaswaal and Numansdorp.

The Coronet: Civic Authority

Crowning the shield is a golden (yellow) crown, a common municipal coronet in Dutch civic heraldry. This crown features three leaves and two pearls, adding a touch of elegance and signifying the official status of the former municipality.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/coat-of-arms-of-cromstrijen-netherlands-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1768445820
https://gomugyourself.com/products/coat-of-arms-of-cromstrijen-netherlands-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-1-5oz
