At the base of the shield, a blue (azure) wavy line represents the water, a nod to the city's maritime location and its connection to the White Sea and surrounding delta.

Dominating the upper portion of the shield is a vibrant red (crimson) wild-rose flower, also known as a rosehip flower. The flower's center is rendered in silver, creating a striking contrast.

Symbolism

The rosehip flower is the central element of the design, embodying two key aspects of Severodvinsk's identity. Firstly, it references the historical name given to the island where the city is located, derived from the abundance of wild rosehips found there. The "rosy" landscape inspired the English explorer who landed there in 1553.

Secondly, in modern context, the flower is also often interpreted as a symbolic representation of a submarine propeller. This is a reference to the city's significant association with shipbuilding, specifically in the construction of submarines.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/coat-of-arms-of-severodvinsk-russia-coat-of-arms-pint-glass-16oz-16oz-position1.webp?v=1764670053
