The design is split vertically, a classic heraldic division known as "per pale." This creates two distinct halves, each with its own visual elements.

Dexter Side (Viewer's Left)

The left side presents a field of gold (Or), upon which rests a striking red diagonal stripe, referred to as a "bande." This is further embellished by narrow red stripes on either side, termed "cotices," which frame the larger stripe. This portion of the design is directly inspired by the heraldry of the de Beaufort-Spontin family, former lords of Beauraing.

Sinister Side (Viewer's Right)

The right side is a "barry" design, which means it consists of horizontal stripes. Here, there are ten alternating stripes of gold (Or) and red (Gueules). This repeating pattern offers a bold contrast to the other half of the design, and also mirrors the colors found in the municipal flag of Beauraing.

Overall Composition

Together, these elements combine to create a visually dynamic and historically rich design. The interplay of gold and red, along with the contrasting diagonal and horizontal forms, represents both the historical lineage of Beauraing through the de Beaufort-Spontin family and the municipality's distinct identity, reflected in its flag.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/communesbelgique-beauraing-belgium-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1765583727
