The alphanumeric identifier CR RNT 700 dominates the surface, with no competing imagery pulling the eye away from it. The letters and numerals are bold and evenly spaced, so the sequence reads quickly, the way a directional marker is meant to be read from a moving vehicle. The name Costa Rica sits within the same frame, tying the code to a specific place.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs exist to tell people where they are and where a route leads. Here that function is borrowed for a country: the code stands as a marker of Costa Rica, a regional designation that presents the nation through systems of classification and identification rather than scenery. The design's themes of geography, identification and regional coding all follow from that choice. It is a sign that names a place without describing it, which gives the piece its neutral, orderly character.

Designed for the Pint Glass

A pint glass is a tall vessel that is turned in the hand, so the sign is seen in passing as the glass moves and the lettering wraps around its curved wall. Carrying a route marker on something used for drinking gives a familiar object a quiet sense of travel. It makes a practical gift for anyone who has been to Costa Rica, or who keeps a map of the places that have mattered to them, and it lets the code start a conversation at the table.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/cr-rnt-700-costa-rica-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-CRRNT-16OZ-1FIGI-front.webp?v=1794024978
