The design, formalized in 1986, is a striking representation of the town's history and identity.

Visual Elements

The central element of the design is a red shield. Adorning this shield is a silver (white) medieval helmet, complete with golden mantling. Above the helmet sits the crest ornamentation – two silver buffalo horns.

Between the horns, a prominent gold letter "K" is displayed, a clear representation of Kirchhain itself. Each horn is further embellished with six silver linden branches, adding a decorative touch.

Symbolism and Meaning

The medieval helmet is a direct link to the historical ties of Kirchhain to the Counts of Hesse, from whom the town received its rights in the 14th century. This motif echoes the helmet that was used in seals and other heraldic representations throughout the centuries.

The "K" is a modern addition, explicitly identifying the arms with Kirchhain. This letter distinguishes the emblem from similar ones and clearly reflects the town's name. The horns and the linden branches, are traditional heraldic embellishments, serving both aesthetic and historical purposes.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/deu-kirchhain-hessen-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1765592843
