The left side, as viewed, presents a striking blue panther, rampant (standing on its hind legs) with red claws, against a silver/white background. This vibrant panther symbolizes the influence of the Counts of Kraiburg-Ortenburg, who once ruled over parts of the district.

The right side of the shield is further divided horizontally, creating two additional quarters. The upper right quarter features a black eagle with a red beak and claws, set against a gold (yellow) field. This eagle represents the former Diocese of Chiemsee, a significant ecclesiastical authority in the area.

The lower right quarter depicts a green triple-mount (three hills) upon which stands a white/silver double-towered castle with an open gate, accompanied by a green tree. This scene symbolizes the former lands of the Baumburg Abbey, a powerful monastic order that held sway over the district's northern areas.

A Visual Tapestry of History

The coat of arms is a carefully constructed visual summary, bringing together elements reflecting the historical patchwork of authorities that shaped the district.
