The design is a bold and striking representation of local history and the unification of its villages.

Shield Design

The shield itself is divided horizontally, known as "per fess," into two equal halves. The top half is rendered in a vibrant gold (heraldically "Or"), while the bottom half is a rich green ("Vert"). This color division forms the backdrop for the central emblem.

Oak Leaf Motif

Central to the design are three oak leaves. They are arranged in a "per pall reversed" configuration, meaning they radiate outwards from a central point, forming an upside-down 'Y' shape. This arrangement symbolizes the coming together of Lohfelden's three constituent villages.

Counter-Changed Detailing

The oak leaves themselves are meticulously "counter-changed." This means the color of each leaf is the inverse of the background it sits upon. Where the background is gold, the leaves are rendered in green, and where the background is green, the leaves appear in gold. This creates a dynamic and visually appealing effect.

Symbolism

The design's key elements directly represent Lohfelden's heritage. The oak leaves are a direct reference to the abundant oak groves that have historically defined the region. The word "Loh" (from which Lohfelden takes its name) refers to oak bark, once used for tanning, thus tying the design to the municipality's natural resources and historical significance. The three oak leaves, and their positioning, symbolize the unification of Crumbach, Ochshausen, and Vollmarshausen into a single entity.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/deu-lohfelden-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-pint-glass-16oz-16oz-position1.webp?v=1764696425
