The design is a vibrant and symbolic representation of Alange's history and identity.

Detailed Design Elements

The primary visual element is the shield, which is divided into two distinct halves (partido). The upper section, or first quarter, presents a field of silver (plata) upon which is emblazoned the red (gules) cross of the Order of Santiago. This signifies the historic influence of the military order in the region.

The lower section, or second quarter, features a golden (oro) background. Centered on this is a red (gules) castle, complete with crenellations, three domed towers (donjones), black stonework (mazonado de sable), and green window openings (aclarado de sinople). The castle rests upon a black mound (monte de sable), from which a green serpent (serpiente, de sinople) ascends. This serpent evokes the original Moorish name of the town, "Hins Al Hanash," meaning "Castle of the Serpent."

Symbolic Significance

The coat of arms, as a whole, encapsulates the essence of Alange's past. The inclusion of the Order of Santiago's cross highlights the influence of this powerful medieval order. The prominent castle symbolizes the ancient fortress, which played a crucial role during the period of Muslim rule and the subsequent Reconquista. The serpent is a direct reference to the town's historical origin.

Additional Element

Crowning the shield is a closed Royal Crown (Corona Real cerrada), which denotes that Alange was once a "villa realenga," or a town directly under the king's authority.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/escudo-de-alange-spain-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1765608243
