The design adapts the original flag for vertical display, reflecting its use in official buildings and events.

Vertical Stripe Arrangement

The flag's characteristic horizontal stripes are ingeniously transformed. Instead of spanning the width, the design employs three vertical stripes. From left to right, they are black, red, and gold, meticulously arranged to capture the spirit of the original flag while accommodating its vertical presentation.

Emblem of Unity

Central to the design is the Coat of Arms, the state emblem of East Germany. The iconic imagery of a hammer and compass is prominently displayed, symbolizing the alliance of the working class and intelligentsia. Encircling these core symbols is a wreath of rye, representing the farmers and their critical role in society. The Coat of Arms is carefully oriented to remain upright, ensuring its correct visual presentation even in this vertical context.

Symbolic Representation

The black stripe represents the past struggle, the red stripe, the workers' and the present struggle, and the gold represents the future. The hammer and compass represent industry and intelligentsia, with the ring of rye highlighting the importance of the country's farmers. This shot glass design is a concise representation of the GDR's core values, its history, and the unity of its people.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/flag-of-east-germany-hanging-alternative-version-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1764767101
https://gomugyourself.com/products/flag-of-east-germany-hanging-alternative-version-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-1-5oz
