At the centre sits a small square in the red, white and green of the Hungarian tricolour. Over that square is a gold emblem of a wheat stalk passing through a cogwheel, and a large red capital V stands on the fly side. The palette is restrained, built from white, crimson, hunter green and gold. The rendering is flat vector, with hard edges and solid fills that keep the emblem sharp.

Meaning & Symbolism

The wheat stalk and cogwheel are set together to represent agricultural and industrial labour, presented as a unity of the two. The tricolour square anchors the design in Hungarian national colours. The red V is recorded as standing for Vezér (Leader) or Viktória (Victory), and it is the most debated element of the design. The flag was adopted around 1932 under Gyula Gömbös and was used until the party was renamed the Party of Hungarian Life in 1939.

Held in the Hand

A mug is lifted and turned as it is drunk from, so the central square and the gold emblem come into view as the cup moves. The clean white field makes the emblem stand out from any angle, which suits a collector or historian who values the record of a specific political moment in Hungary's twentieth century.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/flag-of-party-of-national-unity-hungary-hungary-white-coffee-mug-11oz-position1.webp?v=1756763348
