A red and green flame-pattern border, sometimes called a flamullet, frames the rectangle and gives the design its strongest colour. The shield carries a double cross on red and white, topped by the Holy Crown, and two winged angels stand on either side of it. Gold accents pick out the heraldic details. The flat vector heraldry keeps the composition formal and symmetrical.

Meaning & Symbolism

The crowned coat of arms is the emblem of Hungary, and the flame border draws on the national red and green. The angels give the arms a ceremonial frame, a motif that appears throughout the flags of this period. This version was adopted for an Army Commander and used from 19 June 1940 until 8 May 1945, which places it in the wartime years of the Royal Hungarian Defence Forces.

Turned in the Hand

A mug is turned as it is lifted, so the crowned arms come round to the drinker while the flame border curves around the body of the cup. The angels sit either side of the emblem, so the figures stay in view as the mug rotates, which makes a morning cup a closer look at the heraldry.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/flag-of-the-commander-of-an-army-of-the-royal-hungarian-defence-forces-1940-1945-hungary-white-coffee-mug-11oz-position1.webp?v=1756758673
https://gomugyourself.com/products/flag-of-the-commander-of-an-army-of-the-royal-hungarian-defence-forces-1940-1945-hungary-white-coffee-mug
