Nothing surrounds it. The layout is spare, so the name carries the whole image and reads at a glance, the way a sign on an open road is meant to be read.

Meaning & Symbolism

The sign form does the work here. A road sign points the way and names a place, and by borrowing that language the design treats Armenia as a destination, a national identity stated plainly rather than decorated. Its themes are the country, national identity and culture, and its mood is neutral, so the emphasis stays on the name and what it means to people with a connection to Armenian heritage.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is tall, narrows toward the base and gets turned in the hand as you stir, pour or serve. That suits a road sign well. As the glass turns, the lettering passes across the curve, so the name is read in motion, much as a driver catches a sign from the road. Because the glass doubles as a serving glass, the design goes wherever the drink goes, and it becomes a conversation starter at any table where Armenian culture is worth talking about.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/h85-arm-armenia-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-HRM-16OZ-1FVF0-front.webp?v=1793613251
