A black field carries a white left-pointing arrow, and that arrow dominates the layout, so the eye goes straight to the direction it indicates. The palette is limited to white and black, the same restrained scheme used on standard road signage, which keeps the artwork utilitarian and true to its source. The RUS 017 identification code sits within the sign's layout as the only written element, anchoring the design in its specific regional context.

Meaning & Symbolism

A directional sign is a small promise: this way, and the road will carry you there. The RUS 017 code places the marker within Ireland's own system of road identification, so the design speaks to regional geography and the everyday history of getting from one town to the next. The left-pointing arrow makes the theme plain, which is travel and navigation in their most basic form. The vintage styling recalls signs that guided generations of drivers across Irish country roads.

On the Shot Glass

A shot glass is small, and it is held close, often raised and turned in the fingers before it is finished. The arrow is read at that scale the way a sign is read at a junction: quickly and with a little attention. Every time the glass is lifted, the left-pointing arrow faces the person holding it, a cheeky reminder that the best route sometimes starts with a detour to the bar. It makes a fitting gift for anyone planning the next road trip or heading home with a story to tell.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/ie-road-sign-rus-017-old-left-ireland-shot-glass-15oz-GMY-SHOT-IERD-1P5OZ-1DTP8-front.webp?v=1793575748
