The letters and figures of the identifier carry the whole composition, with no border, scene or decorative flourish competing for attention. Everything sits on the central line, so the eye lands on the code first and the country second. It reads like a route marker you would pass at speed, clean and direct, the way road signage is meant to be read.

Meaning & Symbolism

IRL is the standard three-letter country code for Ireland, and L1100 is the identifier that sits alongside it, pinning a place down within the country's geography. Together they turn a region into a reference point. The design leans on that idea of location-based tracking: a code that tells you exactly where something is, and, for people who know the place, exactly where they belong. Its themes are geography, identity and region, and it handles all three as a matter of simple, precise labelling.

On the Mixing Glass

A mixing glass is a vessel you hold close and turn in the hand, and a design like this rewards that. The code is read one side at a time as the glass rotates, so the identifier arrives in pieces, the way a sign does as you pass it. Stir a drink and the glass becomes a small road marker on the bar, the country name and its location code always facing whoever is holding it. Give it to someone who keeps a map of their home place, and the message is plain: this is where you are from.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/irl-l1100-ireland-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RLL-16OZ-1DTST-front.webp?v=1793588810
