It reads as a piece of wayfinding rather than a picture.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is stripped back. The alphanumeric code IRL L3118 sits at the centre of the layout and carries the whole image, with the country name, Ireland, placed as the secondary reference. There is no ornament competing for attention. Clean, plain typography does the work, and the numerals are the strongest element on the surface, so the eye lands on the designation first and the place second.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design borrows the logic of signage. In Ireland, an L-prefix marks a local road in the national numbering system, so the code points to a specific route in a specific place rather than a general idea. Turning that into artwork gives an ordinary piece of infrastructure a identity of its own: a route reference that becomes a thing you can hold, admire and talk about. It is a quiet nod to the way roads, and the places they connect, shape the everyday.

Shaped for the Hand

A mixing glass is a tall vessel with a curved wall, and this artwork is built for exactly that. The sign reads as you lift the glass and turn it, the designation wrapping around the surface so the numerals appear and disappear as the light moves across them. It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who has a connection to Ireland or a fondness for the roads that carry people home, and it pairs well with a drink poured for a toast.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/irl-l3118-ireland-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-RLL-16OZ-1DTTI-front.webp?v=1793588913
