The design is a striking example of heraldic artistry, reflecting the rich history of the region.

Design Elements

The shield is "per pale," meaning it's divided vertically into two equal halves. The left side is colored "Argent," a heraldic term for silver or white. The right side is "Gules," or red. This creates a bold and visually balanced foundation for the central emblem.

The Lion Rampant Counterchanged

At the heart of the design is a "lion rampant counterchanged." This powerful symbol depicts a lion standing on its hind legs in a dynamic pose. The term "counterchanged" is key here: the lion's colors are reversed, following the background. Therefore, the lion's form is red on the silver side of the shield and silver (or white) on the red side. This mirroring effect enhances the visual impact and symbolizes unity and historical connection within the community.

Meaning and Symbolism

The coat of arms, as depicted on this shot glass, is a testament to the traditions and historical ties of Kruibeke. The lion, a symbol of courage, strength, and royalty, is a common figure in heraldry. The specific design reflects the identity and heritage of Kruibeke, providing a tangible connection to the past. This design is also a typical example of Flemish municipal heraldry and, as such, speaks of the unique heritage of the town.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/kruibeke-wapen-belgium-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1764792104
