Clean typography carries the subject, and the identifier L106-AT sits alongside the word Austria, so the code and the country read as one statement. Nothing decorative competes with the lettering, which keeps the eye on the name and the numerals in the order they were set.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs exist to direct people to a place, and this design borrows that purpose. The country code AT is Austria's own international designation, so the artwork speaks in the same shorthand used on vehicles, documents and maps. The L106 numeral works as a catalogue reference, the kind of identifier that places a piece within a geographic or national collection.

Made for the Mixing Glass in Hand

A mixing glass is a tall, tapering vessel that is lifted and turned as it is used, and the design is built to be read that way. The lettering runs around the curve as the glass is handled, so the name of the country comes into view at each turn. It makes a fitting choice for anyone who collects places, or who keeps a bar cart stocked with pieces that carry a sense of where they come from.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/l106-at-austria-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-LT-16OZ-1FTSX-front.webp?v=1793650318
