The design is a complex yet striking arrangement of visual elements, deeply rooted in historical symbolism.

The Shield

The primary design element is the shield, which is divided into four quarters. Quarters 1 and 4 feature a golden pointer (hound) against a blue background (azure), representing loyalty and vigilance, and commemorating the family of early lords of Lovendegem. Quarters 2 and 3 feature a silver chevron on a black background (sable) with three red scallops, the arms of Joost Triest, a lord of Lovendegem from the late 16th century.

At the center of the shield is a smaller, golden escutcheon, which bears a double-headed black eagle. This escutcheon symbolizes Lovendegem's status as a barony under Austrian sovereignty, representing the higher authority it was subjected to at the time.

Additional Elements

The shield is further adorned with a Baron’s cap of the Austrian Netherlands, which sits above the shield, and supported by two golden lions, which flank the shield on either side. These additions enhance the grandeur of the design and further allude to the nobility and history of Lovendegem.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/lovendegem-wapen-belgium-coat-of-arms-shot-glass-15oz-15oz-position1.webp?v=1764798078
