mg-220-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug
MG-220 (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

MG-220 (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

A utilitarian state route shield, reduced to black outline and white ground, makes up this minimalist take on a Minas Gerais highway marker.

Visual Elements & Composition

A pentagon dominates the frame, its outer edge ringed by a thin black border that frames the open white interior. The letters MG sit above the numerals 220, both set in bold black and centred on the shape. Black makes up a modest share of the surface, so the layout leans on empty white space and a flat vector finish with no gradients or texture.

Meaning & Symbolism

MG is the standard abbreviation for Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's states, and 220 is the designation of that state highway. Route shields like this one are built to be read in a glance from a moving vehicle, so the design carries the plain clarity of public signage. It stands for the everyday network of roads that connects towns across the state.

Reading the Shield on the Mug

On a mug, the shield wraps around a curved surface, so the pentagon bends gently as it moves past the eye while the cup is turned. The strong contrast between black border and white field keeps the MG and 220 readable at arm's length and up close alike.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-220-brazil-road-sign-white-coffee-mug-GMY-MUG-MG220-11OZ-front.webp?v=1793833425
