The lettering and numerals carry the image, with nothing competing for attention. The composition is plain and frontal, so the sign reads at a glance, the way a route marker does when you see it from a moving vehicle. Its clarity comes from restraint rather than decoration.

Meaning & Symbolism

MG-221 is a highway designation from Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's largest states. Route numbers like this one are how drivers navigate a country's roads, so the sign stands for travel, distance and the working everyday network that connects towns. Placing that marker at the centre of the design makes a Brazilian road into an emblem of place and identity, a small piece of a national map you can carry with you.

On the Mixing Glass

A road sign is something you read as you pass it, and this glass gives the design the same kind of moment. Lifted and tilted in the hand, the sign turns around a curved, tapering surface, so the route number reveals itself in pieces as the glass moves. It is a fitting pairing for a gift for anyone who has ever followed a highway for the sake of the journey, and a playful nod to the roads that lead back home.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-221-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG221-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793759510
