The numerals do the work here. Nothing else competes with them, so the eye goes straight to the code and then to the Brazilian context around it. The layout is plain and direct, closer to a signpost than a picture.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs exist to tell people where they are and where they are going, and this one carries that purpose into a Brazilian setting. The MG prefix matches the abbreviation for Minas Gerais, the Brazilian state whose highways carry designations of this kind. Read together, the code places the design in a specific corner of Brazil's road network, and the theme of Brazil ties it to the wider country's culture and geography.

Turning the Sign in Hand

A road sign is flat and square, but a glass is round, so the design has to be read in pieces as the glass turns. Each turn brings a new part of the sign into view, the way a driver catches a sign only as the road bends. Raise the glass and the designation comes into focus; set it down and the sign becomes a reminder of a journey you have not yet taken. It is a fitting pattern for a vessel that gets passed around, lifted and tipped toward the next round.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-233-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG233-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793761467
