mg-236-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-236 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-236 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes its subject from a single road designation, MG-236, and renders it as a Brazilian road sign, with the country's name built into the artwork itself.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is deliberately spare. The sign is the primary subject, presented clearly with no extraneous decoration competing for attention. The lettering and numerals carry the message: the MG prefix, the number 236, and the word Brazil. Nothing sits around them to dilute that reading, so the eye moves straight from the designation to the place it names.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are the most public kind of typography. They exist to be read quickly by people in motion, and they assume a shared system of codes. In Brazil, the MG prefix identifies the state of Minas Gerais, and numbered routes like MG-236 mark its state roads. The artwork therefore carries a specific place in its lettering: a route that connects particular towns and landscapes, rather than a generic emblem of the country. For anyone who has driven that stretch of road, or simply knows the system, the sign reads as a map reference.

Made for the Hand

A pint glass is a tall, curved surface that you turn as you drink, so the design never sits flat in front of you. The sign's lettering runs around the curve and reappears each time the glass is lifted and set down. Each sip brings the number back into view, so the route becomes a small ritual of its own at the table.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-236-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG236-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793764608
