mg-247-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz
MG-247 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

MG-247 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Pint Glass 16oz

This design takes the form of a road sign, built around the designation MG-247 and the word Brazil, so the piece reads at once as a piece of highway signage.

Visual Elements & Composition

The composition is direct and uncluttered. The route number sits at the centre of the sign, where the eye lands first, and the regional name Brazil sits alongside it as the second line of information. Nothing competes with the numerals, so the code does all the work. The layout follows the logic of real road markers, with a clear hierarchy between the route and the place it belongs to.

Meaning & Symbolism

The prefix MG identifies Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's largest states, and the number 247 marks this route within the state's road network. A road sign is a promise of direction, telling travellers where a road goes and which region they are in. The design carries that function into a keepsake, turning a functional marker into a reference to a specific place on the map.

Turning the Sign in Hand

A tall, curved vessel gives the sign a continuous run around its wall, so the route number appears and disappears as you turn the glass, much as a sign comes into view while you drive past it. Hold it up to the light and the design becomes the kind of landmark you would otherwise only glimpse from a passing car. Whoever receives it will have a map reference they can keep close, one that rewards a slow turn and a second look.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0703/5204/4312/files/mg-247-brazil-road-sign-pint-glass-16oz-GMY-MIXI-MG247-16OZ-front.webp?v=1793767545
